Every year, an estimated 190 million animals suffer in laboratory experiments worldwide. In the U.S. alone, more than 40,000 dogs are used in testing—many bred specifically for this purpose. These animals endure invasive procedures, toxic drug trials, and months or years in sterile cages, often without pain relief.

Even worse, 90% of drugs tested on animals fail in human trials, according to the National Institutes of Health. Animal testing is not only inhumane—it’s ineffective, expensive, and outdated.

We are working globally to eliminate animal testing by promoting innovative non-animal research methods that are safer, faster, and more reliable. Our team of scientists, policy experts, and advocates collaborates with governments, universities, and corporations to advance alternatives such as:

- Policy wins: Convinced the U.S. EPA to phase out mammal testing by 2035.
- Global change: Countries like Brazil have banned cosmetics tested on animals—joining 45 nations and 12 U.S. states.
- In 2025, the NIH announced it will no longer fund programs focused exclusively on animal models—a historic shift toward humane science.
